Super Visa Program For Parents & Grand Parents:
Sponsor Your Parents or Grandparents: Bringing Family Together in Canada
At The Black Bear Canadian Immigration Services, we understand the importance of family. That’s why we’re here to help you navigate the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program (PGP) and the Super Visa Program, enabling you to reunite with your loved ones in Canada.
Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program (PGP)
The PGP offers Canadian citizens and permanent residents the chance to sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residency. To qualify for this transformative opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Residency Status: Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident living in Canada.
- Age Requirement: Be at least 18 years old.
- Family Relationship: Be the child or grandchild of the individuals you wish to sponsor.
- Financial Commitment: Meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) based on the size of your family unit and provide proof through Canada Revenue Agency-issued notices of assessment.
- Sponsorship Agreement: Sign a commitment to provide for the basic needs of your sponsored family member(s) for 20 years.
- Additional Agreement for Quebec Residents: If you reside in Quebec, you’ll need to sign an additional agreement.
Your spouse or common-law partner can assist in meeting the income requirement by co-signing the sponsorship agreement. Remember, the co-signer must also meet the eligibility criteria and have cohabited with you in a conjugal relationship for at least one year.
Super Visa Program
For those seeking a quicker option, the Super Visa Program allows parents and grandparents to visit Canada on extended multiple-entry visas lasting up to 10 years. This program is always open for applications, and you can apply simultaneously with the PGP. To be eligible for the Super Visa, you must:
- Relationship Requirement: Be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Letter of Invitation: Obtain a signed letter of invitation from your child or grandchild.
- Medical Insurance: Secure valid medical insurance for the duration of your stay in Canada.
- Application Location: Apply for the Super Visa from outside Canada.
Additionally, your Canadian child or grandchild must demonstrate that their household meets the Minimum Necessary Income, ensuring that welcoming you won’t impose a financial burden.
